San Francisco Treat
'House Beautiful' Magazine April 2004

The food at San Francisco's chic Town Hall restaurant is rated excellent, but the design is also something special. New York decorator mark Zeff created Town Hall's unique look from the shell of a 1907 warehouse, one of the first structures built after the city's earthquake. His scheme retains classic elements but still sports a contemporary feel; it includes special touches like ebony-stained oak floors, handmade early-American-style copper light fixtures salvaged from a Spanish Harlem movie theater, and 1930s brass fixtures from France. Everything seems to work here, and patrons apparently agree — the restaurant has been packing them in since it opened late last year.
